July 16 — ICAR unveils India’s first indigenous African Swine Fever vaccine

July 17 — India runs its first indigenous hydrogen train, the NaMo Green Rail

Its 2.4 MW combined output is currently a record for hydrogen rail traction anywhere: 1,600 kW from fuel cells plus 800 kW from lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a 180 km range. RDSO prepared the design, the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai carried out the conversion, and Medha Servo Drives integrated the hybrid equipment. India’s largest railway hydrogen storage and refuelling facility, holding roughly 3,000 kg, was built at Jind to support it.

July 18 — Skyroot’s Vikram-1 becomes India’s first private rocket to reach orbit

Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace launched Vikram-1 from the First Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, at 12:05 p.m. IST. About fifteen minutes later the vehicle injected its payloads into a 450 km orbit at 60° inclination — on its first attempt. The mission, named Aagaman, makes India the third country after the United States and China with a privately built orbital launch capability.
Vikram-1 is a four-stage small-satellite launcher — three solid stages plus a liquid orbital-adjustment stage — standing about 22 m tall and rated for 350 kg to low Earth orbit. It carried technology demonstration payloads from Grahaa Space, Cosmoserve and DCubed, plus Skyroot’s own SCOPE satellite. ISRO supplied motor casting and test facilities, liquid-engine testing, trajectory analysis, safety support and the pad itself, with IN-SPACe coordinating authorisation. July 20 — CDSCO approves India’s first dengue vaccine

India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation granted market authorisation to Qdenga (TAK-003), the first dengue vaccine approved for use in the country. The approval covers ages 4 to 60, uses a two-dose schedule three months apart, targets all four dengue serotypes, and — unlike earlier candidates — requires no pre-vaccination testing for prior infection. The product is WHO-prequalified and has been administered in more than 40 countries. Indigenous Indian dengue candidates remain in development alongside it.

July 21 — ICMR licenses three indigenous biomedical technologies to Indian industry

DRDO successfully carried out the first flight test of the Kusha Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. Kusha is designed to neutralise fighter jets, cruise missiles, UAVs and large enemy aircraft across a wide range and altitude envelope.
